Your host Georg Pirhofer is a passionate cyclist. He knows the most beautiful routes and will provide you valuable tips for your trip. Here are some of his favourite routes:

 

Tour 1: Latsch – Lake Caldaro

Tour specs:

Distance: 38.6 kmAltitude difference: 277 mDifficulty: easy

Half-day trip: Take the Bike-Shuttle (reservation required) from Latsch to Lana near Merano. At the sports field of Lana starts a wonderful tour through apple plantations and asparagus fields to Lake Caldaro. Follow the “Apple-Cycle-Path” in the direction of Bolzano up to the village of Unterrain. After 20 km of flat roads, the path will ascent to the village of St. Pauls (394m). Once arrived, you will be able to enjoy the picturesque old wine yards and traditional farms of St. Michael and St. Pauls near Appiano, which are known as the most famous wine-growing areas of South Tyrol. The last part of the trip fortunately goes downhill. Finally arrived to Lake Caldaro, you can enjoy your well-earned break at one of the idyllic lakeside houses.

 

Tour 2: Panorama tour from Passo Resia to Latsch

Tour specs:

  • Distance: 53 km
  • Altitude difference: 705 m
  • Difficulty: medium

Half-day tour: An amazing tour, where you will get to know the amazing landscape of the Venosta Valley. The bike-shuttle will take you to Lake Resia. Your tour starts at the village of Graun, directly at the famous church of the lake. The first part goes flat to St. Valentin and it then descents to Mals and the city of Glurns. After leaving Glurns and the gate of Schluderns, the ascent to Tana starts. You will enjoy amazing views during your way to Allitz, before returning to Schlanders, Mortar and Latsch. 

Tour 3: Latsch – Lake Caldaro

Tour specs:

Distance: 102.5 km
Altitude difference: 2194 m
Difficulty: hard

Day trip: Starting in Latsch, you will follow the famous path of “Via Claudia Augusta” in the middle of the numerous apple plantations up to Prato allo Stelvio. The Stelvio Pass is a real hotspot for cycling enthusiasts. From Gomagoi, you will enjoy the amzing views of the glaciers and the massive Ortler mountain area. However, the most impressive section of the road starts at Franzenshöhe: the 24 hairpin bends of the steep hillside area with 570m of height difference will leave you speechless!
